Dalit Philosophy

Dalit philosophy, rooted in the experience and thought of those subjected to caste oppression in South Asia, challenges the metaphysical and ethical assumptions of the dominant brahminical tradition. B.R. Ambedkar argued that caste was not an economic arrangement but a graded inequality enforced by ideology and scripture, and that genuine liberation required both political struggle and a philosophical reorientation — which he found in Buddhism.
