African Philosophy

African philosophy encompasses the philosophical thought produced by or reflective of African cultures and experiences. It includes Ubuntu philosophy's emphasis on communal personhood ("I am because we are"), postcolonial critiques of Western epistemic domination, philosophy of liberation, and a growing body of work in professional philosophy that engages both African traditions and contemporary analytic and continental methods.
