Socratic
The Socratic tradition traces to Socrates, who claimed to know nothing and spent his life questioning Athenians about justice, piety, courage, and the good. This method of inquiry, the elenchus, aimed not to impart doctrine but to expose confusion and stimulate genuine thinking. Socrates became philosophy's founding martyr, and his influence runs through every subsequent tradition.
