Maimonides
Jewish Philosophy
1138–1204 · Medieval
Moses Maimonides was a medieval Jewish philosopher, rabbi, and physician whose Guide for the Perplexed is one of the greatest works of Jewish philosophy. Born in Córdoba and forced to flee the Almohad invasion, he eventually settled in Egypt. His philosophical project was to reconcile Aristotelian philosophy with Jewish theology — addressing how religious texts should be interpreted when they appear to conflict with the demands of reason.
