600–100 BC · Eastern Philosophy
Kanada was an ancient Indian philosopher and founder of the Vaisheshika school, which proposed one of the earliest atomic theories of matter. He argued that all physical reality is composed of eternal, indivisible atoms (anu), and classified all that exists into a systematic set of categories.
Kanada's Vaisesika Sutras established a pluralist realist ontology with six categories of being: substance, quality, action, generality, particularity, and inherence. His atomic theory and category system were influential in classical Indian debates about the nature of matter, causation, and perception.
Dharma is that which leads to the achievement of Abhyudaya and Nihsreyasa.
