The Neoplatonist Path
Neoplatonism, developed by Plotinus in the third century CE, reinterpreted Plato as a mystical philosopher of the One. All of reality emanates from a single ineffable source, and the soul can return to it through philosophical contemplation. It became the dominant philosophical framework of late antiquity and profoundly shaped both Christian and Islamic thought.
